I live in Ga. I just move me and my 3 year old from the apt with 6 more months left on lease.. From day one me and her had issues. She was extra dirty around the house didn’t want to clean anything take out trash or anything. She was loud at nite when my baby was sleep. whether it was loud music argueing with her mate it was just out of hand. Then on top of all that she basically moved her mate in. last month her mate was there a month straight, spending the night and everything. So i finally got fed up and let her know i was moving and would be will to pay the termination fees but she rejected that said it would have a negitive impact on her credit. so i talked to the apt complex and they said she could move to a 1 bedroom and sign a 6 month lease. i told her i would pay the transfer fees, movin fee, and the difference in rent so she would pay what she is paying now. she stupidly said no again. and she said she do not want another roomate. so i didnt just up and leave her. so i moved the 31 st of march. and paid Aprils rent. She said she is going to stay there and sue me for my half of the rent. does she have a case?

Technically she does have a case. Any breach of contract signed by you will hold up in court. So she does have the right to come after you for the remaining rent due for the lease.

I would talk to the apartment manager and explain the situation to see if they will take your name off the lease. If not they may let you sign a new lease yourself so your not responsible for the other apartment.

Those are your two choices I’ve been in your shoes before. A contract is a contract that’s why they make you sign it.
